Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday emphasized that women’s empowerment is synonymous with national empowerment.
Inaugurating the First National Conference of Parliamentary and Legislative Committees on Empowerment of Women in Tirupati, Birla said: “When our daughters become educated, self-reliant, and leadership-driven, India will become an inclusive and developed nation.”

The Speaker noted that Indian women are no longer just beneficiaries but actual agents of change, leading in various fields. He highlighted the Nari Shakti Vandan Act as a historic step to give women their rightful place in democracy.

Birla emphasized that empowering daughters is the foundation of India’s bright future.
Asserting that parliamentary committees always function above party politics, with the goal of removing challenges in the path of women’s empowerment and paving new ways for nation-building, the Speaker noted that “Indian women are no longer just beneficiaries but actual agents of change, leading in every field from self-help groups to space research.”
The conference aims to promote women’s empowerment and discuss ways to remove challenges in their path.
Representatives from women’s empowerment committees of Parliament and all states and union territories attended the inaugural session. The event underscores the importance of women’s participation in policies and programs for a strengthened democracy.
